The Beatles In Hamburg 1960

The Beatles were formed in 1960, and would become a popular band of the '60s. They gained a 48-night residency in Hamburg, Germany. George Harrison, who was seventeen at the time, lied about his age so that he could stay in Germany.

Dates : August 17-October 1960
City : Hamburg, Germany
Venue : Indra Club
Lineup :

Pete Best (Drums)
George Harrison (Guitar)
John Lennon (Guitar)
Paul McCartney (Guitar)
Stuart Sutcliffe (Bass)

After the Indra was closed down for noise complaints, The Beatles were moved to Kaiserkeller.

Date : October 4 1960
City : Hamburg. Germany
Venue : Kaiserkeller

Dates : October-November 1960
City : Hamburg, Germany
Venue : Top Ten Club

Performing at the Top Ten Club violated The Beatles' contract. Bruno Koschmider in turn reported that George Harrison was underage. George was then deported from Germany. Paul McCartney and Pete Best were also deported a week later as a result of a fire they accidentally started. The Beatles were able to return to Hamburg in 1961. By then, Stuart Sutcliffe would leave the band to focus on art studies.
