After leaving the Green Dolphin Trio, Rick Wakeman joined the Ronnie Smith Band. They obtained a residency at the venue below, but Rick was fired for not taking the dance music seriously.

It was at this venue that Rick met Ashley Holt. She'd later appear on some of his solo albums.

Rick was re-instated into Ronnie Smith's band at the end of the year when they began playing in Reading. In 1969, Rick Wakeman was sacked from the band when he asked for more money.
